The Pomegranate Crown Ritual: Queen of Olympus, Sovereign of Marriage and Sovereignty
To honor Hera in her majesty as Queen of Olympus, guardian of sacred bonds, patroness of queenship, sovereignty, and the protection of the household. This rite may be performed at a festival, on the new moon, or at times when one seeks her favor in relationships, justice, or protection of family and home.

- White or royal purple cloth.
- A crown or diadem (real or symbolic).
- A peacock feather or image of a peacock.
- A pomegranate (whole or cut).
- Fresh flowers: lilies, roses, or iris.
- Incense: frankincense and myrrh blended with rose petals.
- A bowl of clear water with floating petals.
- A small dish of honey and milk.
- Wine or mead for libation.
- Three candles: gold, white, and deep purple.
- Tools:
- Chalice or libation cup.
- Offering plate.
- Bell or chime.
- (Optional for authenticity) a small blade of Damascus steel, consecrated, used only for ritual purposes such as cutting fruit or herbs.
- Attire:
- White robe or garment bound with a purple or gold sash.
Structure of the Ritual
1. Purification
Ring a bell three times. Light the incense and walk in a circle around the ritual space, wafting the smoke. Say:
“By smoke and flame I cleanse this space.
By fire and air, I call it pure.
By water and earth, I seal its door.
Let all that enters here be sacred.”
Sprinkle water from the bowl in the four directions.
2. Opening Invocation
Light the three candles, beginning with the gold (sovereignty), then white (purity and marriage), then purple (power and majesty).
Raise arms and recite:
“Hera, Queen of Olympus,
Radiant as the stars upon the night sky,
Keeper of vows, Sovereign of gods and mortals,
I call upon you to enter this space.
Come clothed in peacock’s glory, crowned in eternal majesty.
Receive my words, my offerings, my devotion.”
3. Chant of Presence
Repeat three times, softly building in intensity:
“Evohé Hera! Evohé Basilissa!
Evohé Hera Teleia! Evohé Hera Nympheuō!”
(translation: Hail Hera! Hail Queen! Hail Hera the Perfect! Hail Hera of Marriage!)
4. Offerings
Place the honey, milk, flowers, and pomegranate on the offering plate. Pour wine into the chalice and hold it aloft:
“To you, Hera, I pour this libation,
For you are the Cupbearer of Queenship,
You are the Guardian of oaths,
You are She who reigns with justice and with might.”
Pour the wine slowly onto the earth (or into a libation bowl if indoors).
5. Central Hymn (Incantation)
Recite this prayer, rhythmic and solemn:
“Hera, golden-throned and all-glorious,
First among the deathless,
Protector of unions, sanctifier of vows,
Hear my hymn and grant me favor.
Your eyes see truth, your hands hold power,
Your crown shines brighter than the sun.
Bless this home, bless this heart,
Bless the bonds I hold sacred.
May your majesty guard my days,
May your wisdom temper my nights.
So do I praise you, Hera,
Queen of Olympus, ever-victorious.”
6. Personal Petition (Optional)
If the ritualist wishes, they may speak directly to Hera now: prayers for marriage, justice, protection, family, or strength.
7. Closing Libation
Take the remaining water with petals, raise it, and pour it slowly, saying:
“As the rivers flow to the sea,
So my words flow to you,
Hera, honored and exalted.
May your favor flow in return.”
8. Dismissal
Extinguish the candles one by one, saying:
- At the gold: “Hera, Queen and Sovereign, I thank you.”
- At the white: “Hera, Guardian of vows, I thank you.”
- At the purple: “Hera, Radiant in majesty, I thank you.”
Ring the bell three times. The ritual is complete.
